News From Johannes

Hello everyone,

Some news:

1. Our new issue of Action, Yes (www.actionyes.org) is up, featuring poetry, translations, essays and multimedia projects by Rosa Alcala, Lara Glenum, Per Backstrom, Daniel Tiffany and a whole host of others.

2. In future issues we would like to include more essays on modern/contemporary poetry/poetics and translation theory. If you are interested in writing such an essay, please contact me. We would like to publish some essays responding to Backstrom's essay on the cultural differences relating to the notion of the avant-garde.

3. My new book, Pilot (Johann the Carousel Horse) is now for sale at SPD (www.spdbooks.org). (As is my "old" book A New Quarantine Will Take My Place).

4. Don't forget to read our new Action Books: Mommy Must Be A Fountain of Feathers by Kim Hyesoon (translated from the Korean by Don Mee Choi), Whim Man Mammon by Abe Smith, Thaumatrope by Brent Hendricks, and Port Trakl by Jaime Huenun (translated by Daniel Borzutzky).

5. If you live in Iowa City or Mpls: Joyelle and I are giving readings there next week (Monday in IC, Fri in Mpls; and on Tuesday we give a talk at the Workshop).

Thanks,
Johannes
